On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina battered the coast of Southeast Louisiana as a Category 3 storm causing over 84 billion dollars in damage to the area. Among the many businesses devastated by the flooding was Hydronic Technology, a member of the Fluid Handling Representation Association. Their office and warehouse in New Orleans was severely damaged with a complete loss on their inventory of heating and plumbing products.
With of the support of the FHRA, a relief fund was immediately set up with $31,000 in contributions from all the FHRA members to help the employees of Hydronic Technology that were displaced from their homes because of the storm.
Additional support came in the form of access to inventory and equipment from the many FHRA representatives, across the U.S. Within two days product was being shipped to fill customer orders, pump system were being fabricated and credit extended to help Hydronic Technology rebuild their business. In total, $175,000 worth of product was supplied to Hydronic Technology between September and December 2005.
